Why Start With Clothing?

Many ask: is food not more urgent than clothing? Priority is not absolute; it follows impact. In schools across rural Damascus we observed that the lack of modest, presentable clothing is a direct cause of girls missing school, especially at middle-school age. When a girl has nothing to wear out, she stops going out. When she stops going out, she drops out of education, and in many cases early marriage follows. A set costing twenty-five thousand lira breaks that chain at its very first link.
